1) Call your parents. You wouldn’t be here if they had never fallen in love.
2) Eat some chocolate. Doesn’t matter if you bought it for yourself or received it from a secret admirer; just be sure to partake in the holiday spirit.
3) Indulge your material loves: There is a ton of kitsch in the stores this time of year; personally, I’m preparing for my unique brand with some late afternoon thrifting.
4) Call your girlfriends. Love between ladies is a special kind.
5) Drink appropriately-colored wine: a nice rosé or a bold red. If you’re not of age, pomegranate juice + club soda is an alternative I adore.
6) Blow a kiss: if not to that special someone, perhaps to the reflection in the mirror. We all deserve it.
7) Take care of yourself: eat a hearty breakfast, take a day of rest from the gym, paint your nails, brush on some rosy cheeks. Self-love is maybe the most important love of all.
Happy Valentine’s! How are you celebrating love today?

Couldn’t agree more.
Happy V-day, Leslie! I am currently writing a paper about social policy — I guess I could say my graduate school studies is a labor of love? And I’m celebrating that labor? Sure, I’m gonna go with that…
The first thing I did this morning was call my mom, so as soon as I saw that in your post, I knew I would love the rest of the list. We seem to have very similar V-Day philosophies :) I love having a day to just relax, eat chocolate, drink wine, and celebrate for no reason. My girlfriends and I are off to see “Valentine’s Day” this afternoon, which should be an appropriately fun outing. Hope you have an amazing day!
exactly how i plan to spend my valentine’s, it’s all about self love!
happy valentine’s day!
Fantastic post!
I’m doing some of the things I love to do most!
Cute list. I’m either going out with my honey for dinner tonight, or we’re going to make pasta primavera at home. For the day, I’ve been relaxing, eating delicious foods, drinking hot tea, and reading and blogging. A good day.
aw i love your feel-good list! treat yourself with extra love and care. happy valentine’s day leslie! XO.
I love this post + list. True words, very true. I spent the day loving up my kitchen. Now I’m off to spend time with Bill. V-day is just a day to us :) We have every day to be in love.
Absolutely adorable post. Happy VDAY Leslie <3
i agree with these rules but didn’t do as many of them as i’d hhave liked haha!
Remember our Valentine’s Day last year?! Wish you could have been here to witness the extremely high strung wait staff (I think they must have gotten a v-day prep talk)
Miss you!
Also I just started typing Leslie in the name box…instead of my own.
Check, check, and check!! My mom was my valentine, I ate LOTS of chocolate, bought myself some new clothes, had a lovely glass of wine, and took great care of myself. Love those!
Great list! I love it! I drank lots of red wine, ate chocolate and did lots of other good stuff yesterday!
Hope you had a good one!
