New GoBackpacking post, Thanksgiving-style.


Last Friday, as my family and I exited our favorite Connecticut restaurant, we were riding on a wave of food- and family-induced content.  Full of root vegetables, fresh seafood, strong spices, an old favorite wine, and generous desserts that no one could finish, there was little that could have stolen the joy from the evening.  Until, that is, we stepped through the restaurant’s doors and came upon the late evening air.

It was cold.

Try as I might to avoid it, winter is inevitable and well on its way – the temperature that night dropped dangerously close to the thirties.  I’d like to add to my thankful list the seat warmers in my father’s car.

In the spirit of keeping some heat as the winter chill rolls in, I’ve been summoning my warming essentials.  A hot list, of sorts:
