There’s something about patterns this time of year. My solids and blacks start coming out when I can see my breath in the air, but until then, I can’t stop filling my my body – inside and out – with design of all sorts.
Plaid was made for November.
Antioxidants [pomegranate seeds and dried mulberries].
Patchwork comfort [pumpkin polenta with kale].
Patterned tights and belts.
Ripening designs equal the sweetest bananas.
Autumn color [maze at Schonbrunn Palace, Vienna].
I see artwork in all my food [brussels sprout leaves].
Striped sandwich [mashed butternut squash, roasted beets, avocado].
What patterns do you see in your life?

Black & white with a hint of color = my pattern
And when I say color, I mean red.
Wow this is amazing way to look at food…such beauty! I woke up and saw a ripining banana and thought “elephant skin” then I thought about India and their spectacular use of bright colors. So I suppose bananas remind me of bollywood? Hmmm
Love patterns though,
Maggie
I see a lot of argyle in my life since I work at a golf club
Uhhhh, pumpkin polenta with kale?! That sound incredible!
I adore plaid. I don’t care if the hipsters took it over. I love it. I also like dorky sweaters (I call them “dad-like sweaters” and knee high striped socks.
beautiful display of images! my day to day patterns: neutrals, colors, plaids or florals. it really depends on my mood! (as for food, i love color! and tend to eat with my eyes)

p.s love your avocado + beet + squash combo!
love this post
and so cool to think about patterns and art in food, well today lets see i saw the patterns of the prickly-ness in my dried figs at breakfast, the pattern of the banana as i cut it…and just now while making lunch the pattern of the skin on the kambocha squash, and as for not food, i love the autumn and November and wearing plaid, knits and warm leggings or tights, and big cozy socks around the house

love this idea, as brooke said i tend to eat with my eyes too. i love looking at food as art or seeing the hidden beauties in everyday things like the color my oat bran turns when i add cinnamon or the speckles on the ripe banana or the streaks on the kambocha i cut for lunch, and the textures in my date and walnut KIND bar for snack(dates chunks crisps and walnuts, reminded me of a checker board) love plaid! and love knits! warm sweaters!
