food for thought.

A quick post for a busy day – some Thursday thoughts:

1) Obviously I adore fashion, but I am increasingly saddened by the industry.  Case in point: a model was recently photoshopped to such an extreme that her hips appeared thinner than her head.  Should she really look that way, she would not be able to walk.  Read more (disclaimer: potentially triggering photo):  http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/…

2) Yogurt, cereal, and fruit improves any afternoon.

3) Even if I use my measuring cups and follow a recipe, my homemade granola never tastes as delicious as the kind in a box.  Tips?

4) I daydream of a world where every woman (or man, for that matter) accepts themselves exactly as they are.  Some other ladies do too: http://ohsheglows.com/2009/10/14/…

See you this evening for breakfast. :)

  • Mmmmmm fresh figs… that’s what I’m thiking about now ;)

  • it’s a rainy day here…. but as I work at home.. it’s cold and cozy! :)

  • Yeah I too am irritated by the fashion industry lately. I USED to have respect for Ralph Lauren and Karl Lagerfeld, but lately I despise both of them.

  • Yeah I heard about that on the news at the gym. Pretty sad..humans honestly have lost their minds, obviously. I just feel bad for the generations after ours…they have to live in a world of plastic bottles, ridiculous robotic music (can we even call it music?), and a culture saturated with distorted views on weight. Sicking. I love the bowl of color you ate. I made the best granola once but I lost the recipe :( I do know it involved agave, coconut oil and grounded almonds.

  • What is even worse than the photoshopped model is the fact that when they put normal women in magazines, they make a huge deal about it and claim that they are using plus sized models. How does that make us feel? If you are normal you are plus sized? Why should they make such a big deal about using normal models anyway??

  • I like clumpy, crunchy granola and you’re right…the homemade kind never seems the same. Sigh. I believe in homemade versions for a lot of things, but I do love bulk bin granola.

Aw granola…I wish I could make my own, but the bulk kind at whole foods is just too irresistible :D

Good luck with your busy day, Leslie <3
