I am an avid fan of experimentation. Whether fashion or food, pairing two unlikely components effortlessly transforms the mundane into something both surprising and exciting. It makes life far more interesting and to put it simply, more fun.
Sometimes, choosing the ingredients to mix can be a source of confusion – perhaps the pool of options is too wide. On those occasions, I like to begin with opposites. They do, after all, usually attract.
Sweet and savory [cinnamon + paprika].
Silver and gold.
Smooth and spicy, white wine and red wine.
Chocolate and vanilla [plus rolled oats = cookies? oatmeal? granola? Endless possibilities].
Classic black and white.
Salty and sweet [toast, avocado, honey, sea salt].
Old and new [holiday leftovers = side salad the following afternoon].
What opposites attract you?

I love sweet and savory combinations, like your avocado with honey. Sounds divine :)
I just had Ezekiel toast with avocado and sprouts for lunch, but I’ve never tried honey…
I like raw corn in Greek yogurt or cottage cheese–that whole sweet/salty thing.
My favorite pairing, although not healthy, is salty french fries dipped in a chocolate shake. Its probably my weakness..havent had one in years though. But my healthy favorite pairing would have to be avocado and eggs on top of salty oat bran..its odd but I love it!
I love your pairings :)

Great post Leslie! I love the photography–seems like there was more light in your presence today :D SUN! How beautiful. I love silver with gold as well.
I like sea-salted dark chocolate, which is kind of like salty/bitter/sweet. And I love navy with black, which I suppose isn’t “opposite”, but…still seems it, kind of.
Have a beautiful Tuesday evening <3
