The opening of autumn always feels like a fresh start for me. Perhaps it’s the back to school associations, regardless of the number of years since my graduation. Perhaps the coinciding Jewish new year encourages the newness. Perhaps simply the seasonal change, not as depressing to me as the starkness of winter, but rich instead with color and the freshness of the fall harvest.
With autumn officially commencing tomorrow evening and half of the week’s new year celebrations behind me, it seems appropriate to consider some aspirations for the months ahead. Resolutions, I suppose:
Support local farmers.
Dress up more often than not.
Never apologize for the food I eat.
Write, no excuses about time.
Take even more photographs.
Eat root vegetables by the bucketful.
Keep up with “correspondence” – I am a notoriously terrible emailer, and half the time I forget I have Facebook.
Celebrate well and fully – I have birthdays, weddings, and plenty of holidays on the horizon.
What are your current resolutions?

My boy and I were just having this conversation yesterday about how September is like a second new year for resolutions and new beginnings etc. It is definitely the back to school vibe!
I am aiming to make more of my own food from scratch this autumn/winter, especially soups which I am terrible about buying in cans!
Oh man…. there are so many resolutions…. It seems like I am always trying to make more time for my family. Oh yeah…. and the root veggies are all I can think about too! I’ve been eating 3 or 4 sweet potatoes a week for the past month or so. I can’t get enough!!!!

Great resolutions and I love those shoes btw. I’m always apologising for what I eat and I shouldn’t, it’s me that’s eating it because I enjoy it :)
Mine are: keep up with exercise, but ditch the guilt if you don’t have time or energy to workout, enjoy more baked goods, like healthy muffins and bread, then…hm. Make new friends, go out more often…I guess I have a lot of them :D
Your posts always put me in peace :)
1. Run my 5K.
2. Take in every moment of my last semester here.
3. Eat more locally grown foods.

hmm, i’d say my resolutions are:
1. be easy on myself – physically and emotionally
2. maximize my free time
3. spend money wisely!
My resolution is to begin training for my marathon but ultimately listening to my body. I want a challenge, but I don’t want to put too much stress on myself!
