relics of a golden summer.

We may have reached the final days of August, but I refuse to feel as though summer has passed.  Yes, people are preparing for school, window shopping for winter boots, considering jackets for breezy evenings.  The sun is setting earlier and the season may be waning, but as long as I can sit comfortably outside, I’m still holding on to every golden, sunny piece I can.

khalal dates

Just purchased golden khalal dates, perfectly in season.  Nature’s candy at its finest.

Blueberry corn muffins, which are surprisingly decent considering my baking skills.

Reminiscing – late afternoon, champagne colored sun on Parizska Street, Prague.

Are you holding tight to summer?  Or are you ready for fall?

I’m holding on to summer like it’s my blankie. All the fall stuff is nice, but summer is my favorite season by far. This is absolutely the fastest summer has ever sped by for me and I’m going to be more than a little sad to see it go.

Gorgeous pics. You have such talent.

  • I think I’m ready for fall, that time period right before it gets cold out is my favorite time of year. But I like your ways of making summer last just a bit longer ;)

  • Fall is my favorite season so I am super excited for it. I am kind of sad that blueberry season is going to be over though.

  • I am really not happy that summer is over- it has rained every day here and there hasn’t been a single day warm enough to go out without a jacket so I don’t feel like I’ve had summer yet :(

Lovely golden accents–especially those Golden Squash. I bought two yesterday and plan on roasting them this week. To me, autumn is the golden season! But summer will slowly fade into fall hopefully–im not ready for SUPER cold yet!

I used to hold on to every vestige that summer had to offer, but living in Florida has changed all that. Now, when I think of winter, I think of it as the most beautiful time of year. Your photos come to life right off the page. Great stories!!

  • wonderful photographs! love the burt’s bees snuck in the lower part of the picture. though i thought i was sad about summer being over, this morning the cool air felt really awakening. got me excited about the new school year until i realized i am no longer in school. ha! apparently i am still adjusting to that reality!

  • I hope to go to Prague someday! I am looking forward to fall. It is absolutely my favorite time of year. I love the weather, the smell of wood burning stoves, the changing leaves, apples, everything pumpkin, red wine, darker beers, slow cooked food, and root veggies. I love everything all the way through until January 1. . . and then the neverending winter becomes too much! :)
