Your boss's description of a French lunch sounds simply amazing. What an experience Europe must be in terms of health, food, and dining. I'd love to witness it first hand!

I think the American lifestyle is ....very flawed...but it has its pros, as well as its cons.

I totally agree - while traveling in Europe, I definitely enjoy being able to sit and stretch out my meals over a long period of time. The rushed atmosphere of the way we eat in America is terrible.

I definitely agree. American women have a very skewed relationship with food.

I wouldn't say impossible. But I would say extremely, extremely hard. I can't get over the 90-minute lunch break. Can you imagine how wonderful... to eat slowly?

I agree as well!
I live in Switzerland where most of the people are quite healthy and thin. We just don't make a fuss about food being too fat or too "carby" or too whatever. what always amazes me in the States in that, ironically, there are many more fat-free, sugar-free products than here, but so many people are obese! I think the secret is eating and enjoying fresh, good quality food and you'll be much more happy with a little of it and won't raid the fridge at 11 pm for (lowfat?) ice-cream.

I totally, totally, totally, totally, totally agree. I lived in Italy for 2 years and observed the SAME thing!! 2 hour leisurely lunches that DIDN'T center around food. Confident women (no matter what their size) and not scared to eat a little of everything. I learned SO MUCH about portion control and fresh foods while living there. I think everyone should live in Europe for at least a year.
