I injured my foot because of running. I still need to go see a doctor about it. I haven't run since but I am hoping to some day get back to it if I can. Of course, there are tons of other options that are gentler on my body. So I am at least still active!

I can totally relate - my left let is longer than my right, and due to a child hood injury, I'm a little knockknee-d. I can only run slowly, and the longest I've ever done is 35 minutes - after that, my knees just plain hurt. Sigh. I want to run, I want to feel the wind on my face and experience the runner's high, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to.

I really can relate to this post. I blew my knee out in 2007 and had 2 reconstructive surgeries. I was told I would probably never run again and I spent near 2 years in Physical Therapy. After the injury, my right leg is now shorter than my left and my right hip drops down further than my left.

I can get fitted for orthotics which will fix this problem. I have started running again and I am doing a half marathon in August. I really need new running shoes right now because I am noticing a tightening in my hip and I probably should get those orthotics.

Knee pain is definitely something to listen to...it is just so difficult when you are the type of person that gets so much pleasure out of running.

Thanks for this wonderful post! I'm in a middle of figuring out a running injury myself and it's hard for me to imagine that the benefits of running, the mostly mental ones I love so much, are possible with other activity...but they are!
